Decision Making - Workshop Webinar

What to do? What to do? What to do? I am pulling my hair out … I don’t know how to choose! The first option is so appealing, it looks like it would suit me perfectly. But the third option, it calls to me in a way the first doesn’t - I want it! The second option is the rational choice, for sure - it does make sense. Hmmmm ….

In this workshop, we will learn tools and strategies to help us make conscientious and confident decisions.

Overview

Section 1: Introduction to Decision Making:

How many decisions do you make a day? Out of those decisions, how many are choices you have actively thought through?

We will begin the session by exploring the concept of Decision Making; specifically focusing on the balance of conscious and subconscious decisions.

  • What is it & Why is it important?

  • Satisficer and Maximiser

  • Decision Making Influences

  • Systems 1 & 2 (Habits, Heuristics & Bias)

Section 2: Decision-Making Traps

Chocolate! Ooooh, look at the sweet, delicious, perfect piece of chocolate. My mouth is watering - I need it in my belly!

Our life is riddled with decision making traps; psychological shortcuts that subconsciously compel us to select a specific path. We will unpack these, discussing the pitfalls and merits - a selection of traps include:

  • Emotions

  • Echo Chamber

  • Anchoring

  • Sunk Cost

Section 3: Active Decision-Making

What broomstick should I buy? A Cleansweep 7, Nimbus 2000, a Firebolt, or the new Windsprint?

In the final portion of the workshop, we will cover tools for active decision making. Examining methods for prioritizing our options and making decisions for our chaotically changing world.

  • Repertory Grid

  • Paired Comparison

  • BRAN
